Sweet, happy-go-lucky Mackie is almost 5 months old (8/18) but has been through a lifetime of challenges. On July 11 he was brought to a rescue in East TN suffering from severe head trauma and a major injury to his right eye. Fearing he might lose his eye entirely, they enlisted a specialist who also diagnosed Mackie with a skull fracture. He was treated successfully but while he fought infection continually, his temperature soared to 103.4 when battling an especially challenging abcess on his head above his injured eye. On July 22 a "hunk" was excised from the area and antibiotics were packed "under his flap" on his head in addition to his other meds and eye ointment 4 times a day. Mackie left the vets on July 27 and brought to Proverbs August 17. He has healed completely. While with his previous foster, Mackie learned to use puppy training pads (now housebroken), picks up his toys and carries them to his bed, learned what 'no' means, and sits on command. He slept in bed with his former foster. Mackie needs a foster since his move to us and we hope he will be adopted soon (older kids only) so he won't be moved again. He will always be an inside dog and on the small side. Mackie enjoys golf. Won't you be his caddy?
