What do you do when you are presented with eleven tiny one week old pups whose mom was hit by a car and killed? You find another nursing female and quick! Thankfully, wonderful Tanner stepped up to the plate and welcomed (although reluctantly) the new litter and saved their lives. We rescued sweet Tanner and her own seven pups from a local kill shelter just about the time her pups were able to be weaned. (All pups have been adopted) Meanwhile we bottle fed the tiny new ones until Tanner was ready. Tanner nursed the second litter; her milk dried up and we have had her spayed and all ready for her new family. She is such a great dog and mom - generous, gentle and very affectionate and patient.
